Let me introduce myself

Hello, I am Mark de Krosse. In 2019, I decided to pursue formal training as a mediator and am now an MfN-registered mediator. With over 25 years of experience as a mediator and entrepreneur in a large family business, I have established a solid foundation for my work as a mediator.

In addition to my general mediation training, I have specialized in divorce, family, and employment mediation. These specializations, combined with my experience, enable me to guide diverse and complex mediation processes.

Throughout my career, I have encountered many conflicts, often within business families. Sometimes I was personally involved, but more often, I was asked to help find a solution. It is always a rewarding feeling when this succeeds, which inspired me to continue as an MfN-registered mediator.

How does it work?

1.

Mediation as a tool for solutions

The mediator in Landsmeer values a personal introduction and is happy to visit you in Landsmeer for an initial conversation. This meeting is intended to determine whether there is a connection with Mark. The substantive discussions will touch on sensitive topics, so it’s helpful to have a rapport with the mediator.

During this meeting, Mark will also map out the situation. Are there children involved? Are there issues such as a business, a house, or other specific circumstances that require extra attention? Mark focuses on a respectful and thorough approach, creating a trusted environment for open communication and understanding.

2.

The process

A mediation process usually consists of three to five sessions, each lasting about two hours. The mediator in Landsmeer will delve deeper into issues such as pensions, potential homes, and assets and/or debts.

If there are children involved, a parenting plan will also need to be established, which will outline arrangements regarding their living situation, vacations, and child support.

3.

The legal documents

After completing the substantive discussions, Mark will take the next step by drafting the settlement agreement. All newly made arrangements, including the parenting plan, will be carefully documented.

Once all parties involved have given their consent, the documents will be handed over to the lawyer. This specialist will check the legal correctness of the prepared documents before they are submitted to the court.

4.

Aftercare

When the final signatures are in place, the mediation process can be considered successfully completed. This marks the beginning of a “new era” in which new situations will arise.

A new home and a new daily routine can be quite a change. You may also have a new job or shared friends. This could raise further questions. In that case, the mediator in Landsmeer is available to provide the necessary aftercare.

The house

The home is often an emotionally charged topic during a divorce, and soon one of you, or perhaps both, will need to move. This raises various questions about what home means and how finances will be managed. It is important to minimize changes for the children; ideally, they should remain as close as possible to their school and friends to ensure their stability.

One option is to leave the home undivided, allowing one of you to continue living there while the costs are shared fairly. If you decide to sell the property, you should agree on a minimum selling price and select an agent to assist with the sale.

The mediator in Landsmeer can inform you about the various options available, and a financial advisor can assess the feasibility of the new housing plan.

All agreements will ultimately be carefully documented in the divorce settlement. This document ensures that no detail is overlooked and that everything is clear and organized for all parties involved.

Why divorce with a mediator?

Divorce is quite a lot to handle. You are juggling many matters at once and need to make new arrangements. Engaging the mediator in Landsmeer can be particularly valuable. This creates structure and ensures a careful arrangement of all matters. Here are the benefits:

✓ The costs of a mediator are lower than those of a lawyer.

✓ A mediation process typically consists of only three to five two-hour sessions, allowing for a quick resolution. In contrast, a (contentious) divorce through lawyers can take months.

✓ Mediation often helps improve the relationship between the involved parties, unlike a court case.

✓ The costs of mediation are shared by both parties (usually each pays half).

If you aim for fair and sustainable solutions and want to ensure that nothing is overlooked, hiring a mediator is a wise choice.
